Dieter Kastovsky

Dieter Kastovsky (*26.12.1940 in Freudenthal (Bruntal), Czech Republic) studied English, Romance, German and General Linguistics 1959-1967 in Tübingen, Berlin (Free University) and Besançon. He received his Dr. phil. in 1967 (Old English deverbal substantives derived by means of a zero morpheme, Esslingen N.:1968). 1967-1973 he was research assistant at the English Department of the University of Tübingen, 1973-1981 he was Full Professor of English Linguistics at the University of Wuppertal. Since 1981 he has been Full Professor of English Linguistics at the University of Vienna, and Director of the Department of Translation and Interpreting of the University of Vienna 1990-2006). As of October 1st, 2009 he is Professor Emeritus. His main research interests are English morphology and word-formation (synchronic and diachronic), semantics, history of linguistics, language typology.
